Lodge Earl Haig No.1260, Saturday 20th September 2014

At a special meeting of Lodge Earl Haig No.1260, held on Saturday 20th September 2014, the RWM Bro. Derek Reekie welcomed the RWM Bro. David McArthur and Brethren from Lodge Union and Crown No.307 from Barrhead in the Province of Renfrewshire East, who performed an enactment of the Fellow Craft Degree as worked in the year 1824, the same year as Lodge Union and Crown No.304 was consecrated.

A Deputation of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Fife and Kinross visited the Lodge on this occasion led by the Provincial Grand Master Bro. Rev Andrew Eadie Paterson JP.

The Dramatised Fellowcraft Degree by Lodge Union and Crown No.307

"Freemasons in this, our modern era of the twenty first century, take very much for granted in our practice and enjoyment of our Freemasonry. Many of our modern masonic lodges meet in purpose built temples, whilst many others meet in public buildings, most if not all are adorned with dedicated masonic furniture and decorative regalia highlighting the lodge identity and bringing formality to the meeting proceedings.  Our meetings are held in a formal and structured manner when conducting the business of the lodge, whilst the enjoyment of food and refreshments are enjoyed during the harmony on closing of the meeting.

Spare a thought now for our brethren of many many years ago ... 1824 to be exact.

The Guid Brethren of Lodge Union and Crown No307 will take you back in time to 1824, and bring to life before your very eyes, an eneactment of how a lodge of both operative and non-operative masons of the time met and carried out their business in the local taverns and public houses of the era.

The Dramatised Fellowcraft Degree, written and created by Past Master Bro. Bud Gauld, intertwines humour with a wealth of information and education about Freemasonry, past and present. Whether brethren have years of experience in Freemasonry, or whether they are new to the craft, everyone who comes along will certainly be entertained, and will hopefully take away something that will make Freemasonry that little more special and personal to them.

We look forward to meeting all brethren who come along to the Dramatisation and to meeting with as many as possible afterwards."
