Plant a Tree for Jubilee

To commemorate the Queens Platinum Jubilee year in 2022, the Lodges have been asked to plant a tree. As you may recall from the Grand Master Mason’s updates from 3rd June and 6th August 2021, Brother W. Ramsay McGhee, Grand Master Mason, referred to a tree planting initiative which has been created to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022.

The initiative invites people, individuals and organisations, from across the United Kingdom to “Plant a Tree for the Jubilee.”

While Grand Lodge are looking at planting trees at the Scottish Masonic Homes, Lodges are invited to participate by planting a tree(s) or by getting involved in the community by taking a lead and encouraging other organisations to assist in the scheme.

Tree planting should take place from October to March.

Any Lodge(s) planning to take part in the initiative should be aware that there are differing qualities of young trees available and this is usually reflected in the price.

Care should be taken in respect of the choice of location and if necessary, relevant permission should be sought and granted prior to any planting.

It would be appreciated if Lodges participating in the “Plant a Tree for the Jubilee” initiative, would take photographs and send them, with a short narrative, to the Provincial Grand Secretary Brother Rankin Clarkson, so that they can be posted on the Provincial Grand Lodge website.
Once again, the Provincial Grand Master, Brother Stewart Quigley, would encourage your participation in this event, and would be delighted to see as many Lodges as possible, throughout the Province, taking part.
